Best Fable Game. Which is The Best to Play in 2023?

May 7, 2023

Fable is a role-playing game which takes place in a fictional land called Albion. So, as in any RPG, you play as a hero completing different missions and developing traits of the character in order to win.

Nowadays, Fable has three main games in the series. And yes, in this best Fable game list I am not going to include additional fun games of the universe, such as Fable Fortune, Fable Heroes, and even Fable Anniversary because for me it is still an expansion that doesn’t add up anything to the plot of the series.

Today, I would like to rank all Fable games starting from the best one and finishing with the worst. Hope you will find it useful and finally find the best Fable game to start with.

So, let’s get started!

Which Fable Game is the Best?

In order to not waste your time on reading the comparison between all of the games, I have decided to immediately outline the best Fable game which is the first Fable.

Also, before you leave I want to recommend you to not playing the raw game but rather one of its expansions, Lost Chapters or Anniversary that add up a lot of cool stuff to the game. They are pretty much the same.

The only difference is that Fable Anniversary is a remastered version with better visual effects, but you still can play the Lost Chapters in case you are a fan of the old graphics or your machine is slow.

Still want to know more about all the best Fable games? Let me walk you through this with the further sections.

Best Fable Games

Fable Anniversary

Fable

So, as I have already said, the first Fable is the best Fable game and now I want to focus more on its specifics.

The first installment of the series was released back in the year 2004 and carries us right into the childhood of the protagonist who consequently loses his parents and somebody steals his sister. After this, you begin to develop your character from his early ages up to adulthood by completing various missions and exploring the dark corners of Albion.

Depending on your preferences, you can choose the skills and character traits that are to be developed; this shapes certain strengths and weaknesses of the hero.

On top of that, Fable has a rich and engaging story which has two different scenarios that are based upon the decisions you make, good or evil.

In conclusion, Fable is the best game not only in contrast to other games in the series but among all games in the world and you definitely have to try it out if you haven’t yet. Personally, if I was asked to name the best five games I have ever played, Fable would be on that list.

OR

Fable II

Fable II

The second best Fable game is Fable II which takes place almost 500 years after the first game, in the seventeenth century.

Comparatively to the previous installment, Fable II becomes more open worlded and includes a lot of activities from day to day life, such as housing, jobs, family, and relationships. Moreover, the world itself becomes bigger.

The good and evil system breaks down into four different elements: attractive, scary, purity, or corruption; but still, they shape upon the hero’s actions.

The last cool thing I have noticed in Fable II is death. From now on, the game doesn’t necessarily to be ended after you die because one of your kids becomes playable after this; thus, having more children is a great option for having extra lives.

All in all, if Fable II is not the best Fable game, it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t play it. So, after you finish the first one, don’t dwell and jump onto the second.

Fable III

Fable III

The last game on our list of best Fable games is its third part – Fable III. But it doesn’t have to lead you to a conclusion that the game is really bad, it just means that it is not better than previous versions, but you had better play it after completing with the first two.

The new Fable game is set in 50 years after its predecessor and features a plot of you trying to raise a rebellion against the evil king of the Albion who is also your brother.

Although the plot is totally different, the game mechanics haven’t changed a lot since the Fable II and personally for me, this is just another Fable II with a new and engaging story.

Despite that, one of the interesting and unique features of Fable III is that you can import your Hero save file from the second game, so don’t forget about this.

Conclusion

To sum up, Fable is one of the greatest games of all time with a compelling plot and exciting gameplay which I always recommend playing to my gamer friends.

Although I have mentioned that the best Fable game is its first part, it doesn’t mean that you have to drop out on the second or the third. They have an almost identical level of coolness; it is just a touchy story that makes players falling in love with the first one.

So, I hope that I have managed to shed some light on the Fable game series, and you have picked the best Fable game to play right now.

Thanks for reading!
